Life at The Yelverton

The Yelverton is a warm, welcoming nursing and residential home where you can enjoy good companionship, attractive surroundings and an interesting programme of outings and events with the reassurance of professional nursing care on hand when it's needed.

We aim to create a happy and homely environment where quality of life is of paramount importance. We help our residents stay as active and independent as possible, retaining their dignity and self-esteem.

Yelverton is a large village set on level ground with a number of good shops set around a central area. It is well served by local businesses and set off by magnificent views.

“The Yelverton is just across the road from the village centre shops, bank, three churches, a coffee shop, post office and the Rock Inn”

The Yelverton is an elegant Edwardian house, refurbished throughout with three sitting rooms, one of which has direct access to the patio area with seating and spectacular Dartmoor views. We have 28 single and 2 double rooms, most of which are en-suite and all have televisions. As you would expect, there is 24-hr professional care by qualified staff.

Clients are encouraged to personalise their own space bringing with them favourite furniture, ornaments, pictures and of course photographs.

Our cook produces home cooked meals using local fresh meat, fruit and vegatables in season. Of course, birthdays are always a cause for celebration at The Yelverton and our home made birthday cakes are always appreciated. We are now offerring lunch to relatives and friends of the residents. We have a special menu for them at a cost of £3 per head.

Residents enjoy regular visits from our excellent hairdresser, manicurist and chiropodist. Arrangements can be made for visits from physiotherapists, dentists and opticians. The nearby Yelverton surgery provides G.P. care for our residents, however if clients would prefer to retain their own G.P. and they are prepared to visit, then we are happy for that to continue.
